It might be funny if it wasn't true . .

I'm nearly at a loss for words, folks. After playing a kind of political "Survivor" game up on the hill for years now, trying to fly under the radar by just going along with the group, Congressman Cleaver is now going to stick his neck out and sponsor some MEANINGFUL legislation.

He's been shopping this idea around for a while, but now he's ready to push forward and FIGHT for what's right!

Here's the story (I couldn't summarize this any better):
Finally, A Congressman With a Solution: Stop Complaining So Much

And here's the letter our esteemed Congressman sent to his colleges:

Dear Colleague -

NO surprises . .

Saturday night Congressman Cleaver joined 218 of his fellow Democrats in voting FOR H.R. 3962: The Affordable Health Care for America Act. This legislation has an interesting title, considering it does NOTHING to actually reduce the cost of health care. What does it do? Let's have a look.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that:
    1. Under the bill, the share of legal nonelderly residents with insurance coverage would rise from about 83 percent currently to about 96 percent.
    2. The net cost of this bill will be $891 billion by 2010.

That's nearly 900 BILLION DOLLARS to insure 13% of the population! If that isn't stupid enough, the bill mandates that everyone have $15,000 in health insurance or pay a fine to the IRS, or go to jail.

The bottom line here is, this isn't really about health care. Anybody who who says it is is either a fool or a liar.

Which one is Congressman Cleaver?

All's quiet on the Cleaver front

There has been very little out of Representative Cleaver in the days following the town hall meetings. Why is that? Perhaps the wind is not blowing in the right [left] direction these days. While our good representative seems to be hiding under a rock we will be busy turning over those rocks in the coming weeks. Stay tuned . .

There is NO health care bill!

I'm pretty sure Cleaver was waiving a bound copy of H.R. 3200 in his hand as he said this at the "Coffee with Cleaver" mini-town hall last weekend. Hmmm . .

More from "Coffee with Cleaver"

Here are a couple of photos which ran on the KC STAR's website that give you a good idea of what went on that morning.

It's pretty easy to tell the difference between the home-made signs brought by the protestors of Government-run reforms and the professionally-made signs brought by those in favor. Yet we are to believe that it is the protestors who are "astroturf."

Right.

The entire KC STAR post can be seen here.

Health Care Reform Protest at Cleaver's Office

Change is coming . .

Coffee with Cleaver August 8th

Here's your chance to reacquaint our learned Congressman with his lowly constituency. The "Town Hall" type meeting will take place Saturday, August 8th from 8am-10am at JP Coffee, 3390 SW Fascination Drive, Lee's Summit, MO.

Don't miss this opportunity to let Rep. Cleaver know how you feel about his vote to raise your energy bills and his desire to take over your health care. I may just bring a few blank job applications for him to get started on for 2010.

$200 Million for wild horses

Everybody likes horses. But would you spend a little under $200 million for wild horse management in the US? Cleaver would! That's the projected cost of the program for only four years; 2010-2014. But hey, Government dollars aren't OUR dollars, ARE THEY?

Here's the summary of the bill.
And the vote tally for the bill July 17, 2009.

No Health Care Legislation . .

. . that doesn't provide a government-run "public" option will be supported by Congressman Cleaver.

Another reason that CLEAVER MUST GO!

When he's up, HE'S OUT!

The stupidity of the Cap and Trade tax

The worst part about Cleaver voting FOR the Cap and Trade bill is how he played "follow the leader" instead of LEARNING something about what he was voting on. OK, sure, it might have been nice if he'd first READ the bill, too, but what the hell; NOBODY did that.

If Congressman Cleaver had bothered to research the science involved he might have noticed that this multi-billion-dollar TAX bill is projected to lower global temperatures by a few HUNDREDTHS of a degree (that's several BILLION dollars per hundredth, Congressman). And even THAT science is on shaky ground.

Unless you get all your news from the big-three national media outlets you've noticed that global temps are COOLING. How can this be? Are we already emitting less greenhouse gasses? NO. The sun is emitting less radiation. If you look at a chart of sun spot activity you'll see a steady INCREASE beginning in 1700 through 2000. Yep. There's your "global warming." Right now the earth is experiencing a Solar Minimum and has already cooled beyond the 1800 temps.

But no matter. The government NEEDS more money and politicians know how to get it. "We must act NOW or all will be lost!" they scream. "But wait! There's MORE! NOW how much would you pay?"

I don't think so.

Higher Taxes and Economic Devastation in Return for ... Nothing?

The Cap and Trade bill is a dangerous example of feel-good legislation that only the party loyal and under-informed could vote for. Congressman Cleaver is at least one of those two. We can't afford this kind of representation in Congress.

The following is an excerpt from CBO Grossly Underestimates Cost of Cap and Trade (Waxman-Markey) published by The Heritage Foundation | June 24, 2009 | David Kreutzer, Karen Campbell, Nicolas Loris:

---------
Regardless of the CBO's cost estimates of the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade program, the necessary second part of the question--what benefits do the costs generate?--remains unanswered. Americans will get almost nothing in exchange for these higher taxes, and the legislation will provide nothing for future generations except more debt and less economic opportunity. According to climatologist Chip Knappenberger, Waxman-Markey would moderate temperatures by only hundredths of a degree in 2050 and no more than two-tenths of a degree at the end of the century.[8] This does not sound like a great deal for the next generation--millions of lost jobs, trillions of lost income, 50-90 percent higher energy prices, and stunning increases in the national debt, all for undetectable changes in world temperature.

The CBO analysis of Waxman-Markey fails to take into account all the adverse effects that will ripple through the U.S. economy if cap and trade becomes law. CBO's grossly underestimated costs means Members of Congress will be grossly misinformed when voting on the legislation.
