Is this REALLY Cleaver-country?

Are there really a substantial majority of liberals living within these boundaries?

Or do we all just throw up our hands and accept it when somebody like Wayne Godsey, KMBC President And General Manager, says something like ". . U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri, whose district is unlikely to vote him out of office."??

Why? Who says? Oh yeah, I forgot . . we should just shut up.

Too late for threats

It's understandable that Cleaver and other Congressmen are receiving threats of violence (real or imagined) these days. After all, a clear majority of their constituents were dead-set against the health care bill they just passed; what did they expect? Violence and/or threats of violence, however, won't repeal the bill. So everybody, calm down and lets focus on things we CAN do to fix this. Here's my personal wish list:

    1. Elect conservatives to Congress who pledge to repeal this bill.

    2. Work toward denying pensions and benefits for the outgoing Congressmen.

    3. Investigate, prosecute and jail members of Congress who threw their oath to uphold the Constitution into the trash (right along with the Constitution itself) when they voted for this Obamanation.

YES WE CAN!

Hey Big Spender!

According to POLITICO.COM, our honerable Congressman Cleaver spent $2,900 PER MONTH in the last quarter of 2009 to lease a car! That comes out to $34,800 a year in taxpayer money! The vehicle in question is reportedly handicap-accessible, WiFi-enabled and runs on cooking oil.

The car is used in leu of a second office; a mobile office of sorts. A very expensive, french-fry-smelling mobile office. No word on just exactly what kind of car this is, though. Your guess is as good as mine. But if the Congressman thinks he's saving the taxpayers money with this, think again!

Steve Kraske: Matchmaker

Yesterday, KC STAR political correspondent and KCUR talk-show host Steve Kraske brought in both Democrat Congressmen Emanuel Cleaver and Dennis Moore to talk with him on his "up/to/date" radio show. The discussion is enlightening and frightening, if you can remain awake and alert through it all.

On the Jobs Bill . .

Likely to be voted on tomorrow in the House, the philosophical differences over just how employment is stimulated are being brought to light by the Jobs Bill. The key question is, can government "create or save" any jobs beyond just GOVERNMENT jobs? Despite evidence to the contrary, the more liberal faction of the Democrat Party (including our own Congressman Cleaver) believes that spending government money (OUR money) creates jobs. And they're upset that this bill doesn't spend ENOUGH.

The other side of the aisle and more conservative Democrats believe that tax cuts stimulate economic growth and thus create JOBS. This approach has worked every time it's tried.

Here's what Rep. Cleaver thinks about it:

"If it’s a tax credit bill instead of a jobs bill, then we will have some hesitation voting for it,”

In other words, if this bill has any chance of WORKING, Rep. Cleaver is against it.
